Anfield pays Hillsborough respects ahead of 29th anniversary
Respects were paid to the 96 children, women and men who lost their lives in the Hillsborough disaster, during Saturday's match against Bournemouth at Anfield.
A minute’s applause was held before kick-off to celebrate the 96 and recognise the achievements of the families, survivors, fans and all those who have supported the long campaign for justice.
Supporters on the Kop also formed a special ‘96’ mosaic in touching tribute on the eve of the 29th anniversary of the tragedy, which unfolded on April 15, 1989.
The players wore black armbands as a mark of respect, while the matchday programme featured a commemorative cover and floral tributes were placed at the Hillsborough memorial.
