LFC to mark 28th anniversary of Hillsborough
Liverpool Football Club will mark the 28th anniversary of Hillsborough with tributes across club sites and a day of themed programming on LFCTV.
At 3.06pm on Saturday afternoon, players and staff across the club will pause to observe a minute’s silence in memory of the 96 children, women and men who lost their lives as a result of the tragedy on April 15, 1989.
At Melwood, the day’s training session will stop so that respects can be paid alongside the temporary Hillsborough memorial, which will be moved to the complex at the request of the Hillsborough Family Support Group.
There will be no Hillsborough memorial service at Anfield this year, after the HFSG informed the club last January that the 2016 service would be the final one held at the stadium.
LFCTV will broadcast themed programming throughout the day, with the channel free to air in the United Kingdom and Republic of Ireland (Sky channel 429 and Virgin Media channel 544) and worldwide online on LFCTV GO.
